Three people died after allegedly drinking toxic liquor in Kushtia early Monday (April 24). 

Besides, five others were hospitalised in this incident.

The deceased were identified as Shahin, 47, of Kushtia Sadar upazila; Ratan, 21, of Mirpur upazila; and Sifat Ullah, 27, of Bheramara upazila.

According to locals, some people fell sick taking toxic liquor at different places of the district. 

Kushtia General Hospital resident medical officer Taposh Kumar Sarker said eight people were admitted to hospital on Sunday night in critical condition. 

Of them, three died early Monday, he added.
