Gazipur City Corporation's former mayor Mohammad Jahangir Alam today (April 27) submitted nomination papers for him and his mother Zaida Khatun to fight for the mayoral position as an independent.

Jahangir submitted the nomination papers at the returning officer's office in Gazipur city after 3:00pm.

The election is scheduled for May 25. Today is the last date for submission of the nomination papers.

Jahangir was sworn in as GCC mayor on July 27, 2018. He was expelled from the Awami League on November 19, 2021, after a video clip of him went viral.
