A man was killed and two others were injured in a road accident on the Khulna-Dhaka highway in Falattia Bazar area under Fakirhat upazila of the district today (April 29).

The deceased was identified as Lavlu Sheikh, 50, son of Sherazul Islam, resident of Ujalpur area of the upazila.

The injured were - bicycle driver Shajahan Mollah (65) and van driver Abul Kalam (50).

Mehdi Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mollahat Highway Police Station confirmed the matter.

A Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Robi Express lost control and rammed into a bicycle and a passenger van on the Khulna-Dhaka highway in Falattia Bazar area, the OC said.

The van passenger died on the spot and the van driver and bicycle rider were injured, he added. 

The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College and Hospital.

Police recovered the body from the spot.

Police seized the bus, but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene, the OC added.
