Two persons were killed after a truck was hit by another truck in Bakherekandi area of Padma Bridge under Shibchar Upazila in Madaripur district early Monday (May 1).

The accident occurred around 3 am in Bakherarkandi area near Panchchar on the expressway.

The deceased were identified as Bashir Howlader, 35, son of Rashid Howlader, from Bakerganj Upazila of Barishal, and Sujon Mia, 25, son of Mizan Mia, from Jashore district.

Shibchar Highway Police sub-inspector Abdullah Hel Baki confirmed the matter.

He said a fruits-laden truck from Bakerganj towards Dhaka became out of order in Bakherarkandi area. Meanwhile, a mango-laden truck coming from Jashore rammed the truck from behind, leaving driver Bashir of the standing truck and the helper Sujon Mia of the other truck dead on the spot. 

Being informed, police recovered the bodies from the scene, the SI added.
