A total of 355 people were killed and 620 suffered injuries in 341 road, rail and waterway accidents during Eid-ul-Fitr, according to Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity.
Of those, 328 were killed and 565 injured in 304 road accidents in 15 days (from April 15 to 29) during this time, said Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, secretary general of the organisation.
According to the information revealed at a press briefing at Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad auditorium in the capital, the road accident and crash-related deaths during the Eid rush were 18.2 per cent and 21.1 per cent lower than the last year.
Meanwhile, the injured number also lowered by 30 per cent that the last year.
Besides, two persons were killed and 55 injured in railway accidents, while five were killed and 22 went missing in waterway crashes, said Jatri Kalyan Samity.
