Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested two men with 1 kg of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka in a separate drive on Wednesday (May 3).

The arrestee is identified as Md Firuz Miah, 50, and Billal Hossain, 53. 

APBn additional superintendent SM Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter. 

He said APBn intelligence members suspected Firuz when he was moving around the car parking area of arrival's Canopy-1 of the Dhaka airport. When challenged, he could not respond positively. During interrogation, he admitted to have carried gold bars.

Later, six gold bars weighing 696 grams were recovered from his possession. The arrestee could not show any legal document of the gold, he said.

In another incident, on Thursday, at 12:30 am Billal was arrested from arrival's Canopy-1 with 696 grams gold. Later, when he was brought to the APBN office in the same manner like Firuz, after that six gold bars were recovered from his possession, said Mizanur Rahman.

A case has been filed with Airport Police Station under Special Powers Acts, he added.
