Two missing girls found dead in Narsingdi's Shitalakhya River

The bodies of two missing girls were recovered from Shitalakhya River in Narsingdi's Shibpur who went to take bath.

Locals said members of the fire service recovered the body of Yasmin, 15, after 20 hours of her missing at 9:30 am on Friday (May 5). 

After one and half hours at 11 am fire service recovered another body, who was identified as Ema, 16, said locals.

According to family sources, Ema, her aunty Yasmin and cousin Sadia went for bathing in Shitalakhya River yesterday (Thursday). At one point, Yasmin and Ema were pulled by the River's current, as a result, they sank into the River and went missing.

Later, Sadia rushed home and informed the family members regarding the occurrence. After that family members informed the fire service and then a rescue team started their search work and recovered two dead bodies, family members added. 

Sadekul Bari, senior station master of Palash fire service confirmed the matter.

He said, Yasmin, a student of Bangalpara school, was the daughter of Abdul Rahim Mia of Palash Upazila's Bhagpara village, and Ema, a student of standard nine of Palash Co-Operative school, was the daughter of Iqbal Hosen of the same village.

"We are still working on the scene, we will hand over the bodies to their respective families," he added.
