Jahangir Alam, an independent candidate of Gazipur city polls on Sunday (May 7) filed a writ with High Court to get his candidature back.

Earlier, on April 30, returning office Faridul Islam rejected Jahangir' candidature.

However, on 4th May afternoon Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Md. Sabirul Islam dismissed Jahangir Alam's appeal against the cancellation of nomination.

Gazipur City Corporation polling will be held on May 25.
