Lawyer killed in Thakurgaon clash

THAKURGAON: A law practitioner was killed and 15 others were injured in a fierce clash between two groups in Baruzal village under Haripur upazila of the district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Advocate Alam, 30, who used to practice as an apprentice lawyer at district magistrate court.

Witness and police sources said the clash triggered between supporters of Alimuddin and Mohiuddin while a brawl set up over cutting a tree near their residential area, leaving Alam and 15 people injured critically.

Later, Alam succumbed to injuries on the way to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.

Rest of injured were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Haripur Health Complex.

Haripur Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mujibur Rahaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

“Police arrested two persons allegedly involved with the clash and a case was filed in this incident,” he added.
