A Rajbari court sentenced a 'kabiraj' and his assistant to life term imprisonment for raping a housewife on April 12, 2021. 

The court also fined Tk 50,000 each, in default, six months of rigorous imprisonment.

Rajbari Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mohammad Sabbir Fayez handed down the verdict on Sunday (June 25) afternoon.

The convicts are Kabiraj Mannan, 52, a resident of Rainagar village and his assistant Faruque Bisshwas, 35, of Bagmara village under Ramkantapur union of Sadar uapazila in the district.

According to prosecution details, on April 12, 2021, the victim fell sick and called Mannan for her treatment. Later, on April 12, 2021, Mannan and Faruque went to her house and took the victim to an empty space saying they will treat her there and then, the duo forcibly violated her repeatedly.
