PM condoles death of Mandela

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep condolence at the death of Nelson Mandela, first black president South Africa’s and anti-apartheid icon.

In a message, the premier termed Mandela one of greatest liberators of mankind and said humanity has lost a tireless fighter for peace, freedom and equality in his death.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Many around the world were influenced by his selfless struggle for human dignity, equality and freedom. He touched our lives in deeply personal ways,"

The example of this great leader will guide all those who fight for social justice and peace in the world, the premier added.

She also prayed for salvation of the departed soul of the great leader and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Sheikh Hasina recalled Mandela`s visit to Bangladesh along in 1997 marking the celebration of 25th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence.
