Light to moderate rain likely: Met office

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today (July 21).

According to the Met office bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country. 

Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur division and the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Chuadanga, Kishoregonj and Moulvibazar and it may abate from some places.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

The low over Northwest Bay and adjoining area now lies over northwest Bay and adjoining coastal area of Odisha. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, centre of the low to Assam across Gangetic West Bengal and southern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.

Country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded by 37.5 degree Celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature today was recorded by 25.5 degree Celsius at Bandarban.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 29 millimeters (mm) at Nikli.

The sun sets at 06.47pm today and rises at 05.23am tomorrow in the capital.
