Marine police rescued over a hundred tourists after they dialed '999' from Haor in Kishoreganj on Saturday (August 5).

They were rescued at 10:30pm from Ainalgop area of Haor in Bajitpur upazila.

According to police, on Saturday morning, 107 tourists on 45 motorcycles came to Kishoreganj Haor from Sripur Upazila of Gazipur district. After that, while returning to Patulighat in Bajitpur from Ashtagram they lost their way in the river Meghna of Haor.

When the tourists on the boat called 999, members of the Naval Police Kishoreganj unit rushed to the scene. Later they were rescued around 10:30 pm, said police.

Bajitpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The rescued tourists are fine and they returned home, OC added.
