The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has summoned Dianjpur municipality mayor Sayed Jahangir Alam for his 'indecent remark' on Justice M Enayetur Rahim.

Besides, the mayor has been also asked to appear in-person before the court by 9am on August 24 to explain over the issue.

A six-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, passed the order today (August 17) after a hearing on a petition.

The SC ordered the BTRC chairman to remove the video, containing the matter, from YouTube and also issued a contempt of court notice against the mayor.

Earlier, a contempt of court petition against Jahangir Alam was filed for his indecent comment on Justice M Enayetur Rahim on YouTube.
