One person was killed and 20 others were injured in a road accident when a picnic bus lost control and fell into a ditch at Ghatkhali area on the Amtali-Kuakata road under Amtali upazila of the district today (August 18).

The deceased was identified as Islam Hossain, 50, son of Samsuddin Bepari, resident of Chak village of Bandar police station of Narayanganj district. 

Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Amtali Hospital Dr Iram Ahmed confirmed the matter.  

He said that among the injured, Islam died on the way to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Locals said that the accident occurred in the area when the driver of a picnic bus from Narayanganj district to Kuakata lost control over the steering and the bus fell into a road side ditch at Ghatkhali on the Amtali-Kuakata road area around 5:30am, leaving 20 injured.
