Law Minister Anisul Huq on Friday (September 8) said Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan has been dismissed for violating discipline.
He disclosed the information while replying to a question from reporters at Akhaura Railway Junction in Brahmanbaria this morning.
A notification signed by the Solicitor Runa Nahid Akhtar in this regard has been published.
On Monday, Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan on Supreme Court premises said he will not be signing a statement from the Attorney General's Office protesting at a recent letter issued by over 170 prominent global figures demanding a halt to judicial proceedings against Nobel Laureate Dr Professor Muhammad Yunus in a labour court case.
However, on Tuesday, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin said No statement was prepared for officials asking them to sign protesting the world leaders’ letter to the Prime Minister on behalf of Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
On August 28, global leaders, including more than 100 Nobel laureates, issued an open letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, saying: "We are alarmed that Yunus has recently been targeted by what we believe to be continuous judicial harassment."
