Two women, who suffered burn injuries in a gas line explosion at a house in Araihazar of Narayanganj on Friday, succumbed to their injuries at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital on Saturday (September 23).

The deceased were identified as Kaniz Khadija, 39, and China Akhter, 40.

Tariqul Islam, a resident doctor at the Burn Institute, confirmed the matter.

He said two women died while undergoing treatment at the institute around 7:40am and 2pm respectively.

He said four people with severe burn injuries were admitted to the institute on Friday night.

Two other injured are --deceased Nipa's mother Hasina Mumtaz, 55, and China's husband Sohan Talukdar, 45.

Kaniz Khadija used to live alone at a house adjacent to Araihazar Bazar and her mother Hasina went to her on Friday night, according to the victim's relatives.

Besides, Sohan, a worker at a local garment factory, and his wife used to live in the same building.

Four people were injured in explosion on the third floor of the building on Friday night.

Being informed, firefighters and police rescued the injured and took them to Araihazar Upazila Health Complex. Later, they were shifted to the burn institute in Dhaka.
