Two arrested in Constable Amirul murder case

Two people were arrested on Sunday (October 29) morning in connection with the killing of police constable Amirul Islam Parvez in Saturday's clash between police and BNP activists.

The detainees are- Md Sultan, convener of Palashbari Union Jubo Dal and Shamim Reza.

Md Faruk Hossain, deputy commissioner (media) of the DMP, confirmed the matter.

Earlier in the morning, a murder case was filed with Paltan Model Thana in connection with the murder of Constable Amirul Islam Parvez.

Over 41 police personnel were injured during the clash, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police's media cell. 

Constable Amirul was found lying over the street near Fakirapool Box Culvert road. 

Soon he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.

On Saturday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir suspended the grand rally in the capital's Nayapaltan and announced the hartal.

BNP claimed that the rally was suspended as police fired rubber bullets, flash grenades and lobbed tear gas shells, forcing the BNP leaders and activists to leave the rally venue.

Till now, two people, including a police constable, were killed in the ensuing violence.

BNP, Jamaat and like-minded parties are observing the dawn to dusk countrywide hartal in protest of the recent police action during the party's Nayapaltan rally.
