Members of police arrested a man for his alleged involvement in setting a BRTC bus on fire at Mirpur-10 in the capital on Monday (November 20) afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Sajedul Alam Tuku, 45, joint-convener of Rupnagar Thana Unit of Swechchasebak Dal, an associate organisation of Bangladesh Nationalist Patry (BNP).
Jasim Uddin, deputy commissioner (Mirpur Crime Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said that the driver of the burnt BRTC bus identified him as the arson attacker to the vehicle.
The police were interrogating him in connection to the incident of BRTC bus fire, the DC added.
Earlier, at about 2:35pm, the bus was set on fire. On information, two units of the firefighters reached the spot and doused the blaze within 11 minutes.
