Launch with 300 passengers stuck at shoal

LAXMIPUR: A Dhaka-bound launch with more than 300 passengers on board ran aground on a shoal in the Meghna River near Munshiganj district early Friday.

Sources said that the launch named ‘Imam Hasan’ left Chandpur Launch Ghat for Dhaka at around 11:45pm Thursday and got stuck in the river after more than two hours journey.

Following the matter, a passenger of the launch told banglanews, “Due to dense fog the launch got stuck but the specific location could not be known immediately.”

Launch staff Rafiq said that the launch got stuck somewhere nearby Munshiganj.

On the other hand, panic is prevailing among the passengers of the water transport.
