The second phase of the three-day Biswa Ijtema began through Aam Bayan (general sermons) on the bank of the Turag River in Gazipur's Tongi today (February 9) after Fazr prayers.

After Fajr prayers, Biswa Ijtema began with general sermons by Mawlana Iliyas Bin Saad and the sermon was translated into Bangla by Maulana Munir Bin Yusuf.

The first phase of Bishwa Ijtema ended on February 4 on the same venue starting on February 2.

The second phase of the Biswa Ijtema will end on Sunday (February 11) through Akheri Munajat.

Religious affairs minister Faridul Haque Khan on Thursday inspected the Ijtema ground and talked to second phase Ijtema organisers.

The government has taken security measures centring the second phase of Biswa Ijtema.
