NETROKONA: A district court awarded life imprisonment with Tk 20, 000 fines to four people and three years jail to 14 others for their involvement in killing a man in the district.

According to the verdict, one was acquitted from the allegation.

The four convicts are Abdur Rahman, Nuru Mia, Maju Mia and his brother Altu Mia in Korardhum village under Atpara Upazila of the district.

Additional Session Judge Abdul Hamid passed the order at around 11:30am Wednesday.

On June 2, 2004, Nuru and Maju along with their cohorts besieged Altu Mia’s residence and attacked him, leaving him died on the spot over a past feud.

Following the incident, victim’s brother Sabuj Mia filed a murder case in Atpara Thana and after investigations police submitted charge sheet on September 30, 2004.  

Additional public prosecutor Kamalesh Chowdhwry confirmed the matter to banglanews.
