A total of 45 Bangladeshis returned home on Sunday (June 9) after serving different jail terms in Myanmar.
Myanmar Naval Ship UMS Chin Dwin with 45 Bangladeshis departed from Sittwe port on Saturday (June 8 morning) and arrived at Cox's Bazar and left Bangladesh with 134 Myanmar soldiers and others on Sunday.
This was completed as per the decision of the inter-ministerial meeting organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Representatives of Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon and Bangladesh Consulate, Sittwe were present to coordinate with the local authorities, conduct verification process and issue Travel Permits in favour of the returnees.
Earlier, on 25 April, 173 Bangladeshis returned to the country after completing their jail terms in Myanmar.
Meanwhile, 134 Myanmar Border Guard (BGP) and other members who were forced to cross the border into Bangladesh due to conflict in Rakhine state were sent back to Myanmar.
