The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to initiate an investigation against former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal over the allegation of amassing illegal wealth through corruption and abuse of power.
ACC Deputy Director and spokesperson Md Akhtarul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday (August 15).
The ACC has brought forward allegations against Asaduzzaman and his five associates for being part of a syndicate involved in corruption related to recruitment, placement, and transfer processes, Akhtarul Islam said.
Asaduzzaman has been accused in several cases filed regarding the recent student movement.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) directed banks and financial institutions to freeze the accounts of the former home minister, his wife, and their son and daughter.
