Bangladeshi American political scientist Ali Riaz has been appointed as the chief of the newly formed Constitution Reform Commission, according to a public administration notification issued Wednesday.
The distinguished professor of US-based Illinois University would replace eminent jurist Dr Shahdeen Malik in the post.
On 11 September, the interim government’s Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus had announced the formation of six reform commissions for overhauling the state apparatus in keeping with the aspirations of student protesters, who had led the ouster of dictator Sheikh Hasina on 5 August.
Ali Riaz is also the non-residential fellow of Atlantic Council, which promotes US partnership with other countries.
