Police on Thursday (Oct 10) recovered the dead body of a recently retired additional secretary from a resort in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar.

The deceased Salahuddin Mahmud was serving as the deputy managing director of state-run SME Foundation having retired from his post of additional secretary at the Ministry of Industries.

On 9 October, he went to Moulvibazar district to attend a number of programmes linked to SME Foundation.

At 10pm Wednesday, he went to the resort he was staying in following a programme. The following morning, people found his room locked from the inside and he was unresponsive.

Being informed police, arrived at the scene and entered the room through a window – only to find the corpse of the government official.

The body was later handed over to Md Masudur Rahman, assistant general manager of SME Foundation.
