19 dailies implement 8th wage board

DHAKA: Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu on Monday said some 19 newspapers of the country implemented the 8th Wage Board.

The newspapers are The Ittefaq, The Bonik Barta, The Prothom Alo, The Financial Express, The Bangladesh Today, The News Today, The Daily Star, The New Age, The New Nation, The Independent, The Daily Sun, Kaler Kantho, Samakal, Amader Somoy, Bortoman, Amar Sangbad, and Dhaka Tribune published from Dhaka.

Besides, Swadesh Sangbad of Mymensingh and Baher Sangbad of Rangpur also implemented the 8th Wage Board, Inu told the House.

The information minister came up with the disclosure in response to a question from AKM Maidul Islam of Kurigram-3.

Inu also said an 8-member ‘monitoring committee’ was formed with representatives from the government as well as of journalists and owners.
