DHAKA: Islami Chhatra Shibir, front organization of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, been ranked third among the `top ten most active non-state armed groups’ in 2013, according to a study.
The disclosure came from a major defense and business risk think-tank HS Jane’s 2013 Global Terrorism & Insurgency Attack Index from IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), a leading global source of critical information and insight.
According to that study, top 10 most active non-state armed groups in 2013 are Barisan Revolusi Nasional (Thailand), Taliban, Islami Chhatra Shibir (Bangladesh), Communist Party of India– Maoist, al-Qaeda in Iraq, Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen (Al-Shabaab), FARC (Colombia), New People’s Army (Philippines), Jabhat al-Nusra (Syria) and Unified Communist Party of Nepal– Maoist.
They also mentioned the number of attacks by non-state armed groups around the world has rapidly increased in last years.
