Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) M Tanvir Ahmed, who was responsible for the security of the Secretariat, has been transferred.

An order in this regard was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjad Ali on Sunday (December 29). 

According to order statement, M Tanvir Ahmed has been transferred to the Public Order Management (POM) South Division of DMP as its DC.

In the same order, DC Mohammad Billal Hossain of POM South Division has been assigned to the Secretariat's security division, replacing M Tanvir Ahmed.

On the night of December 25, a devastating fire broke out in Building 7 of the Secretariat. The fire destroyed documents, computers, and furniture on the sixth to ninth floors, which housed five ministries.

To investigate the cause and source of the fire, the Cabinet Division formed an eight-member inquiry committee on the night of December 26.
