A Chattogram court today (Jan 2) rejected the bail appeal filed for ex-ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in a sedition case filed in connection with disrespecting the national flag of Bangladesh.

Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Saiful Islam issued the order after hearing arguments from both sides for around 30 minutes.

Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Advocate Mofizur Haque Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.

Earlier in the day, a team of 11 Supreme Court lawyers arrived at the court around 10:15 am to represent Chinmoy in the high-profile case. 

Meanwhile, Chinmoy's lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya said, "The court has listened to our arguments. The bail has been rejected. We will approach the higher court."
