The fire at the Manikganj Building in Dhaka’s Purana Paltan, was brought under control after over an hour of effort by the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The fire broke out at 9:17 AM on Tuesday (Jan 7) and was contained by 10:30 AM. 

Six firefighting units were deployed to douse the flames, confirmed duty officer Lima Khanam of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The cause of the fire, as well as the extent of damage and any casualties, remains unknown at this stage.
