International Crimes Tribunal-1 has set 13 November for fixing the verdict date in the case against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal over alleged crimes against humanity committed during last year’s July uprising.
The three-judge panel led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder announced the date on Thursday (October 23).
The decision came after the prosecution completed its rebuttal and delivered closing arguments. Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam and Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman addressed the tribunal for the state.
Prosecutors previously told the court they were seeking the maximum penalty for Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan, while noting that former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun—charged alongside them—had pleaded guilty and turned state witness.
The tribunal reconstituted last year has since pressed five counts linked to killings and other abuses during the unrest.
