BMD forecasts dry weather with low temperatures, dense fog

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted predominantly dry weather across the country for the next 24 hours starting this morning (Jan 8). 

According to the forecast issued at 9:00 AM, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies.

A ridge of the sub-continental high-pressure system extends to West Bengal and adjacent areas, while a seasonal low lies over the South Bay, with its trough extending to the North Bay. 

Moderate to dense fog is likely to occur from midnight to morning and may persist until noon in some places. This fog could temporarily disrupt air navigation, inland river transport, and road communication.

Night temperatures are expected to drop by 2–3°C, while daytime temperatures may decrease by 2–4°C. The dense fog may also intensify the feeling of cold during the day. 

On Tuesday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 30.0°C in Sitakunda, while the lowest was 12.8°C in Jashore.
