Dhaka to be sister city of Silicon Valley

DHAKA: Bangladeshi-American ICT specialist Aziz Ahmad suggested to take initiative from point of Bangladesh to make Dhaka a sister city of Silicon Valley, the home of many of the world’s largest technology corporations.

Aziz Ahmad is the CEO and President of UTC Associates, Inc., a leading national and international systems, network and software integration company for information technology and telecommunications.

On Wednesday, he met state minister for Information and Communication Technologies Junayed Ahmed Palak at Dhaka and discussed about strategy and road map to build digital Bangladesh.

The meeting was also attended by Information Secretary Dr Nazrul Islam Khan and additional secretary Kamal Uddin.

After the meeting, Aziz Ahmad told banglanews that it is necessary to make job opportunities in information technology sector and study related to this sector should be updated for leading Bangladesh on the way to effective digitization.

In the meeting, Junayed Ahmed Palak said that he would like to contribute to the goals and dreams of the Father of Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in building a beautiful ‘Digital Bangladesh’.

Tech Maestro Aziz Ahmad said in the meeting that the foundation for Digital Bangladesh is a Broadband infrastructure and a catalyst for promoting further economic and social developments in this information age, and we have to be in relentless in innovation, embracing new technologies, increase productivity and efficiencies.

The minister urged experienced persons, who are living abroad to work for the welfare of the country, saying effective use of their experience will lead country toward.

Mr Aziz said that he had talked with related persons in USA about building Dhaka as sister city of Silicon Valley and Bangladesh will be digitalized if this unique concept can be implemented.

Aziz, who was on a two-day short visit, left Dhaka Wednesday night.

Aziz Ahmad was the lead architect of AT&T’s 21st century networks. He managed the network design and development efforts for AT&T Local Services (formerly Teleport Communications Group) and specialized in areas of multi-services broadband technology and packetized voice.

Aziz directed the AT&T team in the NGI (Next Generation Internet) Consortium, which was created to research, develop, and demonstrate the next generation broadband access network based on IP and Multi-Wavelength optical technology.

His work required the management and coordination of teams of several hundred technical, academic and management personnel spread across the United States.

At the end of the talk with banglanews, Mr Aziz said that he is ready to render any kind of help to build digital Bangladesh as how Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Dreams.
