SATKHIRA: an accused of few cases was injured in a gunfight with police in Chhaygharia village under Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday noon.

The injured was identified as Madhu Dacoit, 32, son of Abdul Aziz, hailed from Mathurapur village of Sadar Upazila.

Satkhira Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Inamul Haque said that the dacoit was held at around 11:00am. Later, according to his information police were going to North Charabat Tola of the upazila to recover arms.

Meanwhile, Madhu’s cohorts tried to snatch him and opened fire aiming police. In reply police opened fire for defense, leaving Madhu critically injured.

The injured dacoit Madhu was wanted in 11 cases including killing, robbery, mugging and so on, OC added.
