Ali Habib, Assistant Editor of Kaler Kantho, has passed away at the age of 61. 

He breathed his last at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday (March 18) at around 7:45 pm.

Earlier in the afternoon, he fell ill while on duty at his office. Colleagues rushed him to the hospital, where doctors placed him on life support. 

However, he could not be revived.

His first janaza e namaz will be held at 9:00 pm at the East West Media Group compound (Kaler Kantho office premises). 

His body will then be taken to his village home in Jhenaidah for burial.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan expressed deep sorrow over his passing. 

In a message, he said Ali Habib’s contributions to journalism and society would remain an inspiration. He prayed for the departed soul and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

Kader Gani Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director of East West Media Group and Secretary General of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), also expressed his condolences and prayed for Ali Habib’s soul.
