41 aspirants submit nomination at 12pm

DHAKA: A total of 41 candidates of Awami League, Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal and Workers Party are set to submit their nomination papers on Sunday noon for election to women’s reserved seats in the parliament.   

As per polls schedule declared by election commission, Sunday is the last of nomination paper submission, March 11 is the last date of nomination paper securitization, and March 18 is for withdrawal of nomination papers.

In the 10th parliament, Awami League got 39 reserved seats, Jatiya Party 6, Workers Party 1, Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal 1, and independent MP’s alliance three seats.

The list of 50 female leaders has been finalized for the reserved seats.

The candidates will submit respective nomination paper to returning officer at the Election Commission secretariat on Sunday.

AL nominated candidates for women`s reserved seats are Ms Selina Jahan Lita, Advocate Safura Begum Rumee, Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia, Advocate Umme Kulsum Smriti, Begum Akhter Jahan, Selina Begum Swapna, Selina Akhter Banu, Laila Arjuman Banu, Shirin Nayeem (Poonam), Kamrul Laily Jolly, Happy Baral, Rifat Amin, Nasima Ferdousi, Mrs Lutfunnessa, Mamtaj Begum Advocate, Advocate Tarana Halim, Manwara Begum, Mahjabin Khaled, Fatema Johra Rani, Dilara Mahbub Asma, Fatema Tuj-Zohra, Fazilatunnessa Indira, Pinu Khan, Sanjida Khanam, Sabina Akhter Tuhin, Rahima Akhter, Advocate Hosne Ara (Babli), Kamrun Nahar Chowdhury (Lovely), Nilufar Zafarullah, Rokhsana Yasmin Chhuti, Advocate Navana Akhter, Asmatul Kibria Keya Chowdhury, Shamsun Nahar Begum Advocate, Fazilatun Nesa Bappi, Wasifa Ayesha Khan, Jahanara Begum Surma, Sabiha Nahar Begum (Sabiha Musa), Feroza Begum Chinu and Suchitra Tanchongya.

The Jatiya Party candidates are Merina Rahman, Shahanara Begum, Mahjabin Morshed, Noor-e-Hasna Liliy Chowdhury, Rawshanara Mannan and Khorsheda Huq.

Kazi Rosy, Advocate Nurjahan Begum (Mukta) Advocate Ummey Razia Kazil has been nominated as independent candidate.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal nominated Lutfa Taher, wife of colonel Taher at their candidate while Workers Party named Hazera Sultana.

EC sources said the elections to 50 reserved women seats will be held at Election Commission secretariat on April 3.

The voting will start at 8:00 am and continue till 4:00pm without any break.
