NARAYANGANJ: A youth was beaten to death by hammer allegedly by careaketer of their house in Rupganj upazila of the district over a trifling matter early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Ariful Islam Rana, 24, son of Mohiuddin, a member of Rangamati Ansar & VDP.

The incident took place in Arafat Nagar area of the upazila around 2:00am.

Narayanganj district police specail branch inspector Moinur Rahnam told banglanews, Over a trilling matter, Rana locked into an altercation with careaketer of their house Polash. At one stage of altercation, Polash hit Rana randomly with hammer, leaving him injured critically.

Later , family members rushed him to Dhaka Medical Colelge Hospital where he sucumed to his injuries at 3:00am.

The body was taken to DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
