BAGERHAT: A Bagerhat court on Sunday awarded death penalty to two people on charge of killing a school student over land dispute.    

The convicts are Fulmia Hawlader, son of Matu Hawlader and Shahidul Mallik, son of Mafez Mallik of Baharbunia village under Morelganj upazila of the district.   

District and sessions judge SM Solaiman passed the verdict in absence of the convicts.     

The court also sentenced to life another two persons in the same case. All the convicts are now fugitive.  

The case statement reads: on February 4 in 1998, the convicts slaughtered to death a schoolboy over land dispute with his family at Baharbunia village of the district.    

Later, a murder case was filed in this connection against the convicts.
