The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has dismissed a recent New York Times article titled "As Bangladesh Reinvents Itself, Islamist Hard-Liners See an Opening” as "misleading and one-sided."
In a statement posted today on its verified Facebook page, CA Press Wing Facts, the government criticized the article for painting an inaccurate picture of Bangladesh, exaggerating religious extremism, and overlooking the nation's progress.
The statement highlighted Bangladesh's strides in women's empowerment, economic growth, and social reforms.
It pointed to the Youth Festival 2025, where 2.7 million girls participated in cultural and sports activities, as proof of the country's commitment to inclusivity.
It also emphasized Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus’s lifelong dedication to women's rights and economic development.
Furthermore, the government clarified that recent political unrest should not be mistaken for sectarian violence and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting minority communities.
Bangladesh’s strong economic performance—12% export growth in seven months and rising foreign investment—was also cited as evidence of national progress.
The statement concluded by urging international media to provide a balanced view of Bangladesh’s challenges and achievements rather than relying on selective incidents.
