Three people were killed and several others injured in a violent clash over land in Ukhia of Cox's Bazar today (April 6).
The incident occurred around 11 am in the Kutupalong area of Ukhia upazila.
The deceased were identified as Maulana Abdullah Al Mamun, 45, son of Jamaat leader Nazir Hossain, Abdul Mannan, 37, son of Mohammad Hossain and his sister Shahina Begum, 40.
The conflict, which has been simmering for several days, stemmed from a dispute over land boundaries between Maulana Abdullah Al Mamun and Abdul Mannan.
According to local sources, the confrontation turned deadly when both parties clashed, resulting in fatal injuries. All three deceased individuals were cousins. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to their injuries.
Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Arif Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said that the bodies were sent for autopsy.
Legal proceedings are underway, the official added.
