Dhaka ranked tenth among cities with the worst air quality on Sunday morning, recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 110 at 9:20am—classified as ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’.
The capital has been experiencing poor air quality for several consecutive days, signaling the need for urgent pollution control measures.
An AQI score between 101 and 150 poses health risks to vulnerable groups, while higher scores indicate even greater danger.
Riyadh, Kuwait City, and Delhi topped the list with AQI scores of 876, 278, and 248 respectively.
Experts warn that continued exposure to such air quality can lead to serious health complications, especially during dry seasons when Dhaka’s air typically worsens.
