Savar (Dhaka): A pedestrian was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar bazar bus stand area, outskirt of the capital on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Labu Hossain, 30, a bus driver, son of one Toffazzel Hossain of Dargah Sing village at Tentulia Upazila of Panchagarh district.

Police sources said a Gabtoli-bound speedy passenger-carrying bus knocked Labu while crossing the road in Savar bus stand area around 9:00am, leaving him dead on the spot.

Savar Model Thana Sub-Inspector Sajibur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police seized the bus but the driver managed to flee, he added.
