Abrar Faiyaz, younger brother of slain BUET student Abrar Fahad, has allegedly received a death threat through online, prompting him to file a general diary (GD) with Shahbagh Police Station on Friday evening.
The GD mentions the names of two individuals, including Shahriar Ibrahim, former president of Bangladesh Students’ Union’s Dhaka Metropolitan unit.
Faiyaz, also a student of BUET, told reporters that a group is trying to justify the brutal murder of his brother.
He claimed that the threat came in response to one of his Facebook posts.
Faiyaz urged authorities to take immediate legal action against those involved.
He also expressed concern over the safety of himself and his family.
Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Khalid Mansur confirmed the matter.
He said it will be forwarded to the cybercrime unit for investigation and further action.
Earlier, on May 27, Faiyaz made a Facebook post referencing a court verdict delivered during the Awami League government's tenure. Shahriar Ibrahim allegedly shared that post and made harsh remarks, leading to the filing of the complaint.
