A man and his four-year-old son were killed after being hit by a bus while on their way to attend Eid prayers in Shahjahanpur upazila of Bogura on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Chan Mia, 35, and his son Abdullah, 4, from Bamunia Mondolpara area under Shahjahanpur upazila.

The accident occurred around 8:00am in the Noimile area on the Dhaka–Bogura highway, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Highway Police Station Azizul Islam.

According to police, Chan Mia and his son were crossing the highway by jumping over the road divider to reach the Eid prayer ground. At that moment, a Dhaka-bound bus hit them and fled the scene. Both father and son died on the spot.

Police later recovered the bodies. Legal procedures are underway, and the bodies will be handed over to the family after completion of the formalities, the OC added.
