The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has begun the hearing on charge framing against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun in connection with crimes against humanity committed during last year’s July-August mass killings.
The hearing started at 11:50am on Tuesday, with a three-member tribunal headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar.
Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam presented arguments in support of the charges, while state-appointed defence counsel Amir Hossain represented the accused.
The proceedings were broadcast live on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
Earlier, the tribunal had scheduled July 1 for the hearing on charge framing against the three accused, who are currently absconding.
