Over 12 lakh receive free legal aid since 2009: NLASO

The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) has provided government-funded legal assistance in 4,28,301 cases involving underprivileged litigants since 2009.

According to a report published on NLASO’s website, a total of 12,26,019 individuals across Bangladesh are expected to receive legal aid by May 2025.

Of them, 9,78,992 people received help through district Legal Aid Offices, 29,168 via the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, and 29,331 workers through aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.

Besides, 1,88,528 people were supported through the toll-free National Helpline 16430.

The services are provided under the Legal Aid Act, ensuring free legal support for citizens who cannot afford legal representation, as part of the government's commitment to justice for all.
