Two people were killed and two others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run three-wheeler in Natore on Friday evening.
The accident occurred around 5:15pm on the Natore-Rajshahi highway in the Bonbelghoria Bypass area.
One of the deceased was identified as Babu, 40, the driver of the CNG vehicle from Harigacha village in Natore Sadar upazila. The other deceased, a passenger, could not be identified immediately.
The names and identities of the two injured persons are also yet to be confirmed.
Police and witnesses said a Rabbir Paribahan bus from Sirajganj collided head-on with a CNG heading to Natore from Rajshahi in the Bonbelghoria Bypass area, crushing the CNG.
One unidentified passenger died on the spot, and driver Babu died on the way to Natore Sadar Hospital. Of the two injured, one was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College in critical condition, while the other is being treated at Natore Sadar Hospital, said police.
Sub-Inspector Md Abul Kalam of the Jhalmalia Highway Police Outpost confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said the driver and helper of the bus fled the scene after the crash.
However, the bus has been seized, and preparations are underway to file a case. Identification efforts for the deceased and injured are ongoing, he added.
