A total of 1,782 people were arrested by the members of the police in a countrywide drive on Friday (June 20).

Among the arrestees 1,203 suspects were named in cases and arrest warrants.

AIG (Media and Public Relations) of the Police Headquarters, Enamul Haque Sagar confirmed the matter.

He said among those detained, 1,203 were accused in ongoing cases or had outstanding arrest warrants, while the remaining 579 were arrested for various other criminal activities.

During the operations, police also recovered a locally made firearm and ammunition, he added.
