Two people were killed in separate train accidents within a few hours in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur on Friday (June 20) morning.

The deceased were identified as Anjuman Ara, 60, wife of Afzal Hossain from Basudevpur village, and Ziabur Rahman, 40, son of Entazul Haque from Gofur Shah Para in Paschim Saitara village.

According to eyewitnesses, around 9:30am, Anjuman Ara was crossing a road near the Chirirbandar Railway Station when she was struck by the Dolonchapa Express heading towards Parbatipur. She died on the spot.

A few hours later, around 12 noon, Ziabur Rahman reportedly jumped in front of the Banglabandha Express as it was entering the station and died on the spot.

Dinajpur Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Raihan Ali confirmed the matter.

He said the bodies were handed over to the families without autopsies as they raised no objections. 

Two separate unnatural death (UD) cases have been filed, he added.
